Advanced Configuration 3.3 (AC3.3)This is a great tool that has been discussed and recommended all over this Wiki to make tweaks and registry edits, without having to go into the registry. This tool was written by Julien Schapman - known as "Schaps" and includes many of the tools that HTC and Microsoft forgot to provide to allow users to customize
Windows Mobile devices. Users of the ATT-Tilt (also known as the HTC Kaiser) may remember Kaiser Tweaks. AC3.3 is similar to Kaiser Tweaks, but has many more tweaks available.
Many people have had problems trying to use AC3.3 because they have not loaded Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5 before they loaded AC3.3. AC3.3 needs MNCF3.5 to work. Windows Mobile devices currently have MNCF2.0 as part of the ROM, but you need the upgrade to 3.5. AC3.3 WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT MNCF3.5.
To download .NET Compact Framework 3.5 go to:
http://www.4shared.com/file/83421990/34097588/NETCFv35wmarmv4i.htmldownload the .CAB file to your storage card, then using File Explorer on your device, find it, tap on it to install it, then soft reset your device.
Then download and install Advanced Configuration 3.3 by going to:
http://www.4shared.com/file/82034868/8bd01b62/Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v33.htmldownload the .CAB file to your storage card, then using File Explorer on your device, find it, tap on it to install it, then soft reset your device.
Find the icon for AC3.3 in the Programs Folder on the device and tap it - that will execute AC3.3
When you go to "Programs" (Start>Programs) you should find an icon for .NET Compact Framework and an icon for Advanced Configuration. If the icons are not there, you need to recheck your installation and possibly re-install the programs.
Each of the tweaks in the program have a brief explanation of what they do, but if you want detailed information on using AC3.3 go to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070&highlight=Advanced+ConfigurationThat site explains all of Schaps' settings that are built into the program and what they do.
The program has over 200 tweaks available.
Those of us that are comfortable with registry edits often make our tweaks that way, but many of the reg. edits are not well documented and it's easier and safer to use AC3.3 to do the tweaking. If you manage to get really fouled up with tweaks in AC3.3 you can hit the "Menu" softkey and tap "Restore all Settings" and you are back where you started. If you blow a reg. edit you can "brick" your phone.
I make a point of backing up my device using Sprite Backup before I start tweaking. That way if I have a failure, I can do a Hard Reset and a Sprite Backup which gets me back to where I started without losing all previous tweaks. If you use Restore all Settings in AC3.3 you lose all previous tweaks unless you backed them up. Sprite Backup is included in many ROM versions of Windows Mobile 6.1 (it should be noted that some WM6.1 ROM versions don't have Sprite Backup - it is available on line for purchase as are other good backup programs),
While AC3.3 is freeware, it is as good or better than any tweaking app. that you could buy. So if you use AC3.3 , keep Julien working on updating and maintaining new versions of AC, please consider leaving a donation at :
