Power / Battery Charging Tips

Battery Charging
  • To charge your device, please only use the supplied AC charger and USB cable.
  • If your battery level is below ~10%, the device may not charge through the supplied USB cable. Please use the supplied AC charger in this case.

Battery-Saving Tips
  • Turn off the Bluetooth feature and WiFi when not in use in Comm Manager
  • Adjust backlight settings to shorten lighting duration
  • Lower key tone volumes and turn off any unwanted sound notifications
  • Turn on “Hibernate” mode by tapping the power button when the phone is not in use (Please adjust settings as desired)
  • Turn on keypad or device lock to prevent accidental activation of device and backlight

System Capacity

System Resources
Running several resource-intensive applications such as Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player simultaneously can lead to slower response times and may cause the system to freeze. Some tips to avoid slow response times and freezing:Best Practices for MDA - htcwiki
  • When not in use, close running programs in Task Manager. To access the Task Manager, navigate to Start > Settings > System tab > Memory > ”Running Programs” tab. (Please note: pressing the “x” in the upper right corner minimizes but does not close the application)
  • Soft reset the device periodically
  • If the device is unresponsive, please wait and do not try to open additional programs


System Memory
  • Save data on your miniSD™ card as system memory is limited
  • Content on your miniSD™ card will not be located in the same folder as data saved onto the device

Internet Connectivity

WiFi / Hotspots
Availability and speed of your WiFi / Hotspot connection may vary greatly depending on location, physical obstructions, network traffic, and host connection speed.
  • If you are unable to connect to your home network, please check that all firewalls are deactivated. Please also check the wireless router settings for any limitations on the number of connections allowed.
  • If you are unable to connect to your office network, please contact your IT administrator.

EDGE / GPRS
Availability and speed of your EDGE / GPRS connection may vary greatly depending on location, physical obstructions, and network traffic. The expected connection speed for EDGE is ~90-120kbps. The expected connection speed for GPRS is ~30-40kbps.
