The
T-Mobile MDA™ allows you to access your email virtually anywhere. T-Mobile My E-mail and Microsoft Outlook can both act as a single repository for your multiple email accounts and text messages. To ensure your email is properly setup, we offer a few pointers to get you up and running.
Personal Email through T-Mobile My E-mail (Non-Hotmail)
Setup1. Go to Start > Programs > “My E-mail” icon
2. Select one of the follow options:
- Add a new My E-mail account (if you have not set up an email account through My E-mail yet)
- Download settings for existing My E-mail accounts
- Configure My E-mail Triggers
3. Follow the on screen instructions to finish setup
4. After you have added an account to your device, you will see a new Inbox for this e-mail account at Start > “Messaging” where you can send and receive email messages
Personal Email through Outlook (Non-Hotmail)TipsBefore setting up your personal email, you must have the following information at hand:
Your email address, user name, password, account type (POP3 or IMAP4)
Incoming mail server address, Outgoing mail server address, and domain name
- Popular incoming mail server addresses:
· pop3.email.msn.com (MSN)
· pop.gmail.com (Google Mail)
· pop.mail.yahoo.com (Yahoo! Mail Plus)
If you are unsure of any of these items, please contact your email provider.
Setup1. Go to Start > Messaging > Menu > Tools > “New Account…”
2. Enter your email address (e.g.
mdauser@hotmail.com) and press “Next”
3. Once Auto configuration has completed, press “Next”
4. Enter your display Name, User Name, and Password; press “Next”
5. Select POP3 or IMAP4 and name your email account; press “Next”
6. Enter your Incoming (POP3 or IMAP4) and Outgoing (SMTP) mail servers and Domain name; press “Options”
7. Select the time intervals for downloading new messages; press “Next”
8. Select message download options and set the authentication method for outgoing mail; press “Next”
9. Select partial or full message downloading; press “Finish”
HotmailIf you would like to access your Hotmail account, you must follow a slightly different path. There is a Pocket MSN utility that will automatically configure your device. To access this utility:
Setup1. Go to Start > Programs > Pocket MSN icon > “MSN Hotmail”
2. Enter your email address and password; press “Sign In”
3. Once auto-configuration has completed, you will be directed to your inbox
Corporate Email through Outlook TipsBefore setting up your corporate email, you must have the following information at hand:
- Your corporate email Exchange server name
- If your server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection
- The Exchange user name, password, and domain name
If you are unsure of any of these items, please contact your IT department.
Setup1. Go to Start > Programs >
ActiveSync > Menu > “Add Server Source…”
2. Enter your corporate email server address and select the SSL encryption option
3. Enter your User Name, Password, and Domain name; press the “Advanced” button
4. Select the desired option under the “If there is a conflict” field; press “Next”
5. Check the items you wish to synchronize
6. Highlight “Email” and press “Settings”
7. Select your desired mail options; press “OK”
8. Press “Finish” and your device will begin synchronizing with the Exchange server
