Android 2.2 Froyo has been released in most of the world for the Liberty. The ROM is being tested by AT&T now. Hopefully, the OTA push of Froyo for the Aria will happen in the next few weeks.

Just to clear up confusion. The HTC - Liberty that is distributed in Europe and Asia is a device that is almost identical to the Aria that is distributed in the U.S. by AT&T. The only major difference is the 3G frequencies supported by the Liberty are the typical Europe/Asia 900/2100MHz. The Aria supports AT&T U.S. 3G frequencies of 850/1900 MHz.
