"Are you from Seattle area? Could you please tell where you were able to send texts from?
I tried downtown Bellevue, Eastgate (near T-Mobile corporate headquarters lol), Issaquah - no luck."
I'm from Seattle. I work downtown near the library on 4th and from there, texting works without a hitch. At home, on Capitol Hill, I have the problem. The messages sit in the outbox for a bit, then a 'your text message cannot be sent' error. If I place a call, the queued up messages send. T-Mobile support told me it's an ongoing issue they're still trying to resolve. For now, when sending from home I compose, send, and then call voicemail and they go out. Kind of a pain -- can't believe it's gone on this long, especially in their home-office-headquarters city.

Personally, if I had to guess, I can't help but wonder if they're making so many changes for the upcoming 3G launch, that they having some extended, temporary, growing pains :(

Disabling 3G worked for me too. I turned it off using Comm Manager and text messages started to work fine!
For those of you who may not have the same version of Comm Manager, here is the registry key that apparently controls this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\UMTS\OpMode

This is a dword value. Set it to 00000001 to disable 3G, and to 00000000 to reenable it.
Remember, that you will need to power cycle the phone after changing this value.

You sure about that? Mine is disabled in the control panel settings, but the registry entry is set to (0) (just 1 zero, not a bunch like your example).

I'm pretty sure about that.
What I did was the following:
1. Made sure that 3G is enabled.
2. Exported both HKLM and HKCU to a file.
3. Turned off 3G using Comm Manager (I'm note sure what you meant by control panel).
4. Exporeted KHLM and HKCU once again.
5. Compared pairs of files I've got.
6. This one was the only relevant change I saw.

You can try changing this value to 1 using your preffered reg editor and see if that fixes the problem after rebooting your phone. Once again, 0 means that 3G is enabled.

I tried sending a text message and then dialing voicemail and what do you know, it worked. So at least I've confirmed that (a) this isn't a busted phone and (b) we're all seeing the same thing.

Thanks for this. I'm going to roast T-Mobile when I get a chance to call them. Grrrr.

Oops... I googled the issue and wound up here, didn't realize the was a TYTN-specific topic. I have a HTC-branded Touch Cruise, but am having the same issues. On mine, there's a control panel applet to turn HSDPA on and off, though when off the registry setting you mentioned is set to '0'. I manually changed the registry setting to 1, rebooted, and suddenly text messages are working fine. Just to check, I then used the control panel to turn HSDPA on, rebooted, and the registry setting remains set to '1', and text messages continue to work.

One more datapoint: I can send text messages in Virginia.

I may play with the HSDPA registry setting.

I googled and got here - using treo750 with wm6, got the same issues. Going to try some of these suggestions and see if I have success - tmobile has been a real pain. And yes, certain towers seem to be the issue. i live in Longwood, FL - constant problems. Spen a week in Fort Meyers, no issues. Back to Oraldno, nothing but problems - unsupported handset was the response from tmobile, too BTW! Do you find this valuable?

For the past two months I've had this problem, but only at my house. Mind you that I've lived here for two years with perfect reception, and i still have perfect reception, but I only have this problem when I'm at home. The phone just refuses to send messages, it goes "text message cannot be sent" like 20 secs after sending and it goes into the draft folder. The short term solution is like the guy said earlier, as soon as you send a couple of texts (while they're still in the outbox, not the drafts) make a phone call to your voicemail. During the call the phone sends whatever is in the outbox. This works for me about 9/10 times. If it doesn't work, I call again and it works. This is getting old... hopefully t-mobile fixes this issue soon... Do you find this valuable?

I've been out of the country for all of last week and noticed this morning that I can now send text messages again. So someone "fixed" something.

So if you're experiencing this give it another try and see if you came right too.

hi all.. am in the same boat .. did everything. .. new sim card.. funny though.. my original sim card in a different test phone caused the same problem, when I put it back in my phone.. it worked .. faster web paging and it sent out one message.. then it stopped.. i get 'there was a problem connecting to the service. Please try again later.' .. and other times its a time-out issue # 518 ... ... the support says your memory has no connection to the web messaging in or out. havent put in the new sim card yet .. but am feeling quite useless trying .. reading all your messages.. we' ll see.
