HTC Hero - Sprint, Youtube Does Not Work

HTC is aware of the issue and no ETA for a fix. Nice, so much for competing with the iphone. Another iphone wanna be. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm on Sprint and have the HTC Hero. I have the same problem over here too in Houston, TX. I really enjoy YouTube but I can't watch videos with the YouTube app 95% of the time.
Not to be rude but my Palm Pre plays YouTube beautifully in HQ with absolutely no lag 100% of the time.
I bought the Hero thinking that since Google owns YouTube and the Hero is a "Google" phone, that it would have a top notch YouTube app. This is totally NOT the case. My Palm Pre spanks this Hero all day everyday in my opinion and navigating and switching between apps is WAAAAAAY faster. Yes I'm bummed about my hero...
I guess I should stay with my Pre since it's the absolute best multimedia phone I have ever owned... it plays high quality dvd rips @ 30 frames per second with absolutely NO frame skipping! I'm impressed. No other phone can compare to the Pre's video playback capability and I have owned nearly every pda in the past few years. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

have you cleared the cache for the youtube app? 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

The app is the problem. If you use the browser and go directly to the web site you can see all the vids. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm having the same exact problem. Clearing cache doesn't work. It used to work at one point, but stopped working. Do you find this valuable?

I just got a HTC Hero on Sprint, I switched from a T-Mobile G1. The YouTube worked flawlessly on the G1, but the Hero is terrible I'm regreting the switch. I keep getting "Sorry, this video cannot be played" for 95% of videos. A friend has a G1 sitting next to her with my Hero, we search the same videos and all her videos worked! What gives? I clear cache! Do you find this valuable?

in this thread yet so I figured I would mention it (since that workaround is working great for me), which is to hit the menu button (and then 'more' in the menu to be sure) directly after tapping on a video. For me so far 5 tries, 5 successes.
 Do you find this valuable?

My brother's Hero does the same thing, I tried some videos but, it seems to me that you need to be on WiFi to be able to watch them, does not play on 3g but plays on WiFi. 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?
