The Nexus One is available "in large quantities" starting today at Google.com/phone. An unlocked GSM version of the phone that will work in most countries is $529.

Google is also offering a subsidized version of the phone ¿ also unlocked ¿ through T-Mobile for $179. The service plan offered by Google is 500 minutes/unlimited SMS/unlimited data for $80/month.

I was waiting for someone to start a discussion on the Nexus... We've been talking about it a lot... pro's and con's about this device for sure - my son wanted one but no 3G with AT&T... lots of interesting articles out there...

are you going to get one?

Yes, looks interesting but not being released in Australia and in current format the unlocked version will not work on the 3G network here.

Isn't your 3G in Australia on 900/2100 MHz? If so, the T-Mobile released version should pick up 3G there.

Either way when wanting to buy an Android Developer device a few things should always be considered first, always check with the manufacture and run either the IMEI/SERIAL numbers. These phones come SIM unlocked and most importantly "software unlocked" and give the developer freedom (right out the box) The only downside I've ever came across when messing with any of the developer devices are you are in for a learning experience from the get go, "basically you will be your own technical support agent. The first droid the ADP1.. is held very by devs, when Google first launched android, and probably are considered solid gold to those that have them. Even nowadays the T-mobile G1 can be rooted in many ways an have roms put on it, but has slowly phased out. Although, those who have had the luxury to get a "test phone" (the ones that where solely meant for employees at HTC and T-MOB) got root access and lost it because of a "forced over-the air update" from Google. I myself was one of those unlucky ones and tried to even protect my root access, thinking I could put ADP1 Software on my device because in was proprietary software to HTC, I even double checked it with HTC and they said as long as I didn't touch my (Android Recovery Image) but since the rom I had on my device was built for T-Mobile and I put an HTC rom on it that voided my warranty. (carrier rom vs. htc rom) Either way having Dev Software right from the get go or should i say "root access" by default opened a whole new world up for me as far as the cellular world was concerned. Nowadays not a single individual at HTC will indulge in a hardware/sim unlocked device, the only few left that I'm aware of are through (Brightstarcorp) and have a select few left, and as I said earlier HTC will NOT support. you cannot change the (android recovery image) even on a dev phone or your warranty is out the window! 1  out of 1 found this valuable.
