HD2 Freezing, Overheating? HELP PLEASE
Jan 20 2010, 1:54 AM EST | Post edited: Jan 20 2010, 1:59 AM EST
at times the left side of my hd2 screen is unresponsive, if the device goes into lock it is impossible to unlock it. I am not able to move the slider all the way across. Do anyone have the same problem, if so is there a fix?
Its not that the phone is frozen, music will still play, its seem as if it just the screen left half not responding to touch and the right half not responding correctly. HELP PLEASE!!

I would try realigning the screen first. If that doesn't do it, try a soft reset. If that fails, backup everything on the device to your storage card, then do a hard reset. If the screen is responsive again after the hard reset, restore the device from your storage card. If the problem repeats after the restore, it is likely you have a conflict with software that was just reloaded as part of the restore. Uninstall the third party software one program at a time (doing a soft reset after each uninstall) until the device functions normally.

If on the other hand you do a hard reset and it doesn't fix the problem. It is likely a hardware issue. Contact your carrier and have the device replaced.

"may have to send it in tried both hard and soft reset"
If a hard reset hasn't brought the performance back to what it was when the device was new, you should contact your carrier. I'm guessing you have T-Mobile. Most carriers will replace the phone with a new one in the first 30 days and with a refurbed unit after that for the first year.

I had that exact problem with my HTC Touch Pro. Out of nowhere it would superheat and drain the battery. Took it to Sprint service center. They got me a new one overnight. No longer happens. Do you find this valuable?

Yea I got my RMA today...I'll be charged a triage fee of $28.00 This includes
technical assessment and diagnosis.Depending on the country of origin, my unit may be charged a $20.00 Global Warranty Service fee. Hopefully they just switch it out with a USA version :) So I'm looking at 50 something. Not bad assuming the warranty covers what ever is wrong with it. BUT STILL!! I shouldn't be paying anything because HTC sent out a faulty device

Jayboom05 you really did'nt need to spend a dime, my device had problems as well, I to have an unlocked HTC HD2. Whe I had problems I contacted the on-line I purchased it from and they not only sent me a label for shipping but took care of the shipping. This defective came from the on-line company you purchased this device from and not directly from HTC. No telling how long HTC will keep your device man. Depending the length of time you had your device, you can receive a brand new replacement just as I did. Good luck to you on this venture and I hope a brand new replacement is on its way to you. I spent far too much money to have to sit back with either a repaired or refurbished device, you did'nt pay for that. Those were the options offered to me, which I refused flatly. You deserve a NEW device and thats what you should receive. Do you find this valuable?

If ypu contact HTC they will give you all the details for a warranty return and repair or replace.. they are very good with a turn round time of 7-10 days (usually 6 or 7).

I have the overheating problem, it seems to happen when I have anything metallic in the same pocket. ( Keys, screws, headphones) I had a short problem with freezing untill I cleared my messages and changed my mail attachment store location to my Mini SD card. Do you find this valuable?

my hd2 was freezing alot too. i disabled the htc sense and installed spb shell 3 and i havent had any freezing. i miss the effects and interface of the sense program but i can make the spb shell look like the sense. it is pretty good. you can always switch it back if you like.

ok lads i have the same problem but i found a solution thanks to the awesomeness of XDA developers.
if you follow the link and read the tread it provides the fix

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7143605&postcount=12028

i have heard that it can be a problem with the processor idle speed being to low and heard that by deactivating the sense will fix it also.

I have also heard that its the standard stock ROMS that have this issue so check out XDA and maybe upgrade your ROM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_HD2#Modding
has info and links to XDA mods

here is the link to the XDA page which has all kinds of helpfull info

The TP was not one of HTC's big winners. The TP2 (in my case the Tilt2) replaced the TP and the switch to WM6.5 solved many of the issues. I have two Tilt2s still working in my firm, and the people using them love them.

I switched to the HD2 a year ago. I couldn't resist the 1GHz processor and that huge screen. I always load AC3.3 which gives me much more control over what's going on in the device, so I never had any of the freezing issues or hot battery issues. After using an Aria and getting familiar with Android 2.1, I switched the HD2 to Android 2.2 via the XDA Android project two months ago. The phone is a dream! Fast, clean operating and really efficient. I'm looking forward to the HTC Inspire, which is very similar to my HD2 in size and processor, but it is running Android 2.2 (Froyo) as a stock app. It will be very interesting to see how the stock AT&T ROM compares in performance to the XDA cooked Froyo.
