Sprint Touch Pro 2 Bluetooth Issues with BMW
Feb 22 2010, 6:36 PM EST
I have a 2009 BMW 328 and a Sprint Touch Pro 2. My first issue was that the BMW end button on the car dash would not end the phone call. After a couple of weeks of use, every time my phone connects to the car it becomes slow and unresponsive. I've deleted and re-paired the phone sever times to no avail.. Serious compatibility issues. I can't find what Bluetooth stack BMW is using so if anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Same unresponsive problem on Chev Tahoe. As soon as it pairs the phone takes about 10 seconds to respond to every button press. On the car the button to answer the call doesn't answer the call, but part of the problem is that the phone is so unresponsive the call has gone to voice mail before the button takes effect. If I answer on the handset the car continues to ring. Nightmare.

This also occurs on my 2008 Jaguar XJ. The phone window just freezes. My END button works but the phone window stays on the call page for another couple minutes. When it finally moves it is so slow as to be useless while driving. I called Sprint and all they could say was to do a hard reset. Naturally they wouldn't admit that they had ever heard of this problem. I can't believe we are the only ones that have this pairing problem. Clearly it is a HTC software issue.

So apparently the Bluetooth functionality for all cars and devices is handled by software they call the "bluetooth stack". There are several competing stacks out there by various companies and the standardization/functionality is still mediocre at best. Hence the reason some functions work and others don't. That being said when my phone became slow and unresponsive I did perform a hard reset in case the bluetooth stack registry became corrupted and needed to be rebuilt. The hard reset worked bringing normal speed to my phone when connected to the bluetooth in my car but the buttons on my car that never worked initially still don't work (obviously a function of compatibility). Unfortunately at this point I think we are all at the mercy of emerging technology to work out the kinks. I'm crossing my fingers for some sort of hotfix from HTC can perhaps correct it all but that may be a tall order considering that the other bluetooth stack makers would have to be on board... I guess the "bluetooth stack" might be the culprit. maybe the phone guys should simply tell us about the incompatibility issue instead pretending they never heard of it before.

I'm reading that Windows Mobile 6.5 may have some fixes for the bluetooth stack problem. I've got the download and plan to update the phone tonight from WM6.1 to see if that makes any difference.Do you find this valuable? |

Funny you should ask. I updated to WM6.5 on Friday evening. All went smoothly except that I immediately lost my data service. I returned to the store for troubleshooting, mainly because the store clerk was technically oriented and personally had the same phone I did. After about 2 hours he was still unable to get my data service back on - even ended up changing the SIM card, so I'm returning there later today for more fun. The good news, though, is that the phone now appears to work with bluetooth in the car!BTW, this is all with TMobile. Don't know where or if you can get a Sprint WM6.5. but I also don't know that you really want it! Do you find this valuable? |

I've heard that Windows 6.5 addresses the bluetooth issue as well but there is not an official Sprint release yet.

Help, Help Help our members please. I own and run the Range rover sport owners club, and although land crover have listed most of the HTC phones and associated software, the HTC HD2 has not been trialed as yet, and guess what, its a nightmare to coinnect. The set up isuch that it will never automatically connect pair with the vehicle (unlike iother phones I have owned, i.e Nok, Sam, etc. I have to enter the Range rover 4 digit pass code in every time, not only once, but tewice when it see's it. For the last week it hasn't even prompted me to enter the code, so have had to manually go through the screens to get Bluetooth and connectr this way. very dificult when your driving, especially with the sensativity of the touch screen, and then beacuse of the sensativity, when you make a mistake, and try to delete the last digit, sometimesw you don't even have to quite touch the back/.delete button, when away it goes racking up all sorts of numbers, symbols etc. The other day we passed my daughters school when trying yet agian to pair the thing, when it saw the bluetooth of all the school girls one by one which has the effect of locking it up. I could not even turn the phone off so had to do a soft boot via the reset button. When you do eventually get it paired without having a major acsident or being half way to New Zealand before you manage to achieve it, it actuaaloy works well. At one point, althougfh it did not pair automaticalkly without the code, it did see the bluetooth and request the code, more or less every time I entered the vehicle, however betime you un locked the phoner, the screen prompt had disapeered and you had to go all through the menu system again. Come on HTC, if you want to be considrered as up there with the top phones, pay some consideration to getting the blutooth right, especially with the likes of Land rovers, range rovers & BMW's. We will probably have a Merc on here next! Do you find this valuable? |

I have a 2010 Cadillac SRX and an AT&T Tilt2 (TouchPro2). The car and phone pair instantly. Once I pair it, I never have to worry about it recognizing it when I'm in the car. I can use the hands free system and through bluetooth and voice dialing through the phone's address book, I'm able to make outgoing calls without touching the phone. It works beautifully. But, I have two other problems. The first is that I can't answer an incoming call. The car 'rings' and I hit the answer button on the steering wheel or NAV system and then nothing. It shows connected but I can't hear anything through the car speakers or on the phone. If I choose to try and answer on the phone, then the car continues to ring non-stop. I have to disconnect the bluetooth to get it to stop. The second issue is that I can't call out by entering or saying a number. When I do this, I get the same result as above. It's just silence. The phone shows that it is connected, but there's no sound. I find both of these issues to be very disappointing. I'm in my car a lot and was looking forward to making and receiving calls without fumbling with the phone. If there is no solution, I'll give up and get a different phone. My Verizon TP2 conects nicely to my 2007 335i, provides great phone functionality and didn't require anything special to connect or config. Note: this is a "drive by." I don't frequent this ste and just saw your post while looking for something else. Good luck.

I have an AT&T Tilt2 and just like you, can pair the phone without issue. In fact, I was also able to perform voice dialing and answer calls directly from the steering wheel controls and from the nav screen. Worked perfectly until....I configured my Tilt2 to connect to a corporate Exchange server. Once I configured the phone to synchronize e-mail with Exchange, security policies were downloaded to the phone and then I lost the ability to voice dial and to answer calls from steering wheel or nav screen. I just get silence in both cases. HARD reset of phone resolves the issue. WTF?! Do you find this valuable? |

Not long after posting my rant, I found a fix for this issue! Nichelle, if you do not mind getting a little technical you can find the steps for fixing this problem at the following link:http://www.everythingwm.com/forum/moto-q-9c/q9c-and-infiniti-g35x-bluetooth-problem-16833-4.html Scroll down and you will find a post labled "THE Q/INFINITI HACK" This gives directions on how to modify the registry on your phone in order to resolve the "no sound after answering" issue on our Cadillacs. Just tested a number of times after making the changes and it works like a champ! Good luck! Do you find this valuable? |

After months and months of problems with TP2 and/or the TMobile network I finally cancelled my contract and went with the iPhone. Immediately it paired up the BT with my Tahoe no issues whatsoever. The iPhone *just works*. The TP2 with windows mobile 6.5 was a total pain in the butt for the entire time I had it. An absolute nightmare. It would simply lose data service every few weeks for reasons T mobile coulnd't figure out.. I'd call them , they'd go into provisioning supposedly to simply take a look, and magically the phone started to work again. When roaming in areas without 3G I got no data service, nothing, not ever the older slower speeds. The switched the phone, no difference. Hours and hours and hours of discussions on the phone and in the store. Total nightmare.Get a iPhone - it just works. Do you find this valuable? |

Nichelle, if you do not mind getting a little technical you can find the steps for fixing this problem at the following link:So, I completely missed this reply! I eventually gave up on the HTC and switched to the iPhone. My contract came due and I had the option to switch to AT&T. The iPhone has worked flawlessly and I've had zero issues. By the way, my phone was also configured for a corporate exchange server. Anyway, I'm glad you found the solve for this. I post on another board (Cadillac forum) and a number of others have the same issue. I'm going to point them to the fix. I'm glad you found something that worked! Do you find this valuable? |
